Programs

Community Connections

Community Connections is a program of the International Affairs Council, in conjunction with World Learning and funded by USAID.

The Community Connections program serves participants from Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus and other countries of Eurasia who are business entrepreneurs, government officials, and professionals. The participants are selected by USAID based on entrepreneurial or professional ability , English language skills, and a desire to apply U.S. business principles in furthering their business activities when they return to their home.

The primary goals of the program are to provide professional training and exposure to day-to-day functioning of a free market system and to create grassroot linkages between communities in the United States and Newly Independent States region countries.

The International Affairs Council cooperates with many businesses and organizations in the Triangle area to insure that appointments and internships for these distinguished foreign visitors are well suited to their goals, needs, and interests. We also arrange for Triangle area families to host these visitors in their homes during their month-long stay, giving local families the opportunity to enjoy a rich cultural experience and to serve as citizen ambassadors for these international visitors.
